But, like the price, nice and compact, was easy to setup, get operating and connected, and tested it 4 to 5 times and it worked as described. So, so far I am satisfied and feel that I have detection.

SwitchBot water leak detector can be used outdoors and detect from a 0.5 mm water level. However, if raindrops fall on the two metal sensors separately as shown in the image below, the alarm will not sound.
The message about the water leak is of high importance, so you will automatically receive notifications on your smartphone when SwitchBot Water Leak Detector detects a water leak or low water level (only compatible with sensor cable). Below is the guidance for when mail notifications are needed.

Set up email notifications in the following order. - Lanuch the SwitchBot App and log in. - Tap "Profile" in the lower right corner. - Tap "Preferences".Tap "Email Notifications". - Tap "Important Device Notifications". - Tap the relevant Water Leak Detector. - Enable "Email Alerts". - Add your email address.
With the settings in step 3, you will receive an email if there is a water leak or low water level (only compatible with sensor cable).
