I just got the new SwitchBot Radiator Thermometer, and it looks fantastic! The design is sleek, and installation was super easy. I didn’t even need to use any of the provider adapters. The online setup videos are clear and easy to follow.
The only small challenge is aligning the display in the exact direction you want, but once done, it looks perfect.
It connected quickly and started reporting temperature right away. Calibration takes just a few seconds, and the response time when adjusting temperature is equally fast.
It moves very smoothly, and I love the subtle clicking sound when adjusting it manually.
The device is extremely silent when adjusting automatically, which is great for nighttime use.
I’d love to see a future setting to keep the display always on (even if it uses more battery).
So far, it’s been working flawlessly, and it integrates beautifully with the SwitchBot ecosystem.
I’ll update this review once Home Assistant support is released, but for now, I’m really happy with the product.
Great job, SwitchBot!
I replaced my old Tuya Zigbee TRV with the SwitchBot Smart Radiator Thermostat, and I’m genuinely impressed by how much more reliable it is. The connection has been rock-solid — I’m running it in my Home Assistant instance using a Bluetooth proxy, and it integrates flawlessly. No dropouts, no delays, and it updates temperature and target changes almost instantly.
The installation was simple, and the build quality feels premium. Once added to Home Assistant, I was able to automate heating schedules based on room occupancy and outside temperature, which works far better than my previous setup. The responsiveness and stability make it ideal for anyone who prefers local control and automation rather than relying on cloud systems.
Overall, this SwitchBot TRV has been a huge improvement in both reliability and smart home flexibility. If you’re using Home Assistant and want dependable, easy-to-manage radiator control, this is absolutely the one to go for.
I recently purchased the switchbot smart radiator thermostat, and I'm thoroughly impressed at how easy the installation was .I have a bedroom over a kitchen and it always seemed difficult to get consistent temperature, also if I could save some money on gas!
This was something I was a bit hesitant to do but having bought switchbot products in the past I new they had probably got the majority house holds covered.
It did take about 15 minutes to complete but the app holds your hand. The features in the app for control are intuitive and will certainly save heating unnecessarily.
I will certainly look at buying some more in the near future .I highly recommend this to anyone looking for smart control for there existing home set up with out expensive upgrades.
Quality item, brilliantly packaged with everything needed to convert manual TRV.
I have been looking for ages to find a smart device that is capable of fitting to my M28x1.5 TRV valve. This Switchbot product has solved that issue with the supplied adapter / combo hub.
It is worthwhile to take time to look through the pictorial guide or watch the videos prior to fitting (numerous depending upon what valve you have). 15 minutes max using the adapter.
M30x1.5 valve is a direct fit. RA, RAV, RAVL, Giacomini, M28x1.5 or Caleffi valves require a supplied adaptor (just make sure you use the correct pin extender).
Many different options to control smart actions, from simply using the button / dial on thermostat, voice activation (hub needed) or app (bluetooth (local) or hub (remote) needed).
Locally at the thermostat, pressing the button returns current room temperature. Pressing again toggles between schedule and manual modes. Desired temperature set by rotating ring.
In the app you have the following five options, Schedule / Manual (off-35) / Comfort (21) / Fast Heating (35 + duration) / Eco (16)
I can now control the thermostat using Alexa / Google (although I cannot find a definitive list of commands it does the basics). What is temperature [device name] returns room temperature. Set temperature [device name] to # sets the desired temperature.
Through the app there is an automation option to control the thermostat.
The app has too many opinions for controlling the thermostat in this review, namely times, triggers, interaction with other smart devices etc, but most scenarios you could ever think of are catered for.
I like the manual control of the thermostat, so other people who are not aware of the smart controls can still set room temperature (lucky there is a child lock option).
Using combo mini hub Matter, have tried hub Matter integration to Apple HomeKit successfully although controls are very basic and secondary devices are limited to 4.
Not owned long enough to comment upon battery life (2x AA). Action is quick and relatively quiet. The only slight downside I have noticed so far is that when mounted vertically with the metal nut at bottom, the display is upside down. For my house, I intend to fit on all upstairs radiators, so I can zone them off whilst having the heating on downstairs during the day.
Check out my photos. It shows M28x1.5 adapter and with correct pin extender (pushed in and not pushed in).
