KATA Friends Mini Energy Feature Privacy Policy

Please read this policy in conjunction with our “SwitchBot App Privacy Policy.” This policy explains how we collect, transmit, use, and store your personal information when you use the KATA Friends Mini “Energy” feature, specifically its voice conversation functionality (hereinafter referred to as “this feature”). You may stop using this feature by declining this policy or canceling your subscription. If you stop using this feature, you will no longer be able to access the voice conversation services. However, this will not affect your ability to use the KATA Friends Mini device or other basic functions of the SwitchBot App.

Please note that the semantic understanding, speech-to-text transcription, and responses generated by this feature are produced automatically using third-party AI large language models and cloud-based speech recognition technologies. The results may contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete interpretations of your commands. Please exercise caution and use your own judgment based on the actual context. This feature is intended solely for daily companionship, assistance with everyday activities, and entertainment. It is not a medical device or a medical diagnostic service, and its outputs do not constitute medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan. This feature cannot replace care provided by qualified medical professionals or psychological counselors.

When using this feature, you must ensure that participants in conversations, including family members, visitors, and other relevant individuals, are informed and that their consent is obtained where required by applicable law. You must not use this feature for illegal eavesdropping, unauthorized collection of others’ personal information, infringement of others’ privacy, or any unlawful gain.

1. Information We Collect or Process

When you enable and use this feature, we may collect or process the following information to recognize voice commands, generate responses, and execute device control commands:

Voice Information: Real-time voice input captured by the KATA Friends Mini microphone;
Conversation Information: Text converted from voice input, system responses, and contextual information necessary to understand the conversation;
Device Interaction Information: The names of devices you request to control or query, command content, device status, and operation results. This also includes physical interaction data collected through the device’s touch sensors and accelerometer, such as touching, stroking, shaking, or remaining stationary;
Location Information: The city configured in your home management settings or a specific location mentioned during a conversation, such as when requesting weather information;
User Profiles and Long-term Memory: Information derived from past conversations, such as your preferred form of address, occupation, interests, lifestyle habits, significant relationships, and other relevant details, used to support personalized future interactions;
AI Diary and Related Content: Diaries, summaries, sentiment tags, and records of significant interactions generated based on conversation content, device interaction information, and related memories;
Service Operational Information: De-identified operational data, such as conversation duration and response latency, used to ensure service stability, troubleshoot issues, and improve the user experience.

2. Transmission, Use, and Storage of Information

When you issue a voice command, the relevant information is processed as follows: The KATA Friends Mini transmits real-time voice input via an encrypted channel to a third-party cloud-based speech recognition provider, which converts the voice input into text. Once speech recognition is complete, the resulting text, together with any city or location information necessary for tasks such as weather queries, is transmitted to a third-party AI large language model provider to analyze your commands and generate responses. The third-party AI provider does not receive your raw voice. The generated responses are then returned to the KATA Friends Mini for display and interaction and to execute your commands.

These third-party service providers process the relevant data solely on our behalf and only on server nodes located in the region corresponding to your location. No cross-regional data transfers will take place. We do not use your raw voice, transcribed text, or conversation content to train AI models, nor do we provide such information to third parties other than the service providers described above, unless required by applicable laws and regulations or you provide separate consent.

The processed text and responses are stored on our cloud servers to enable real-time contextual understanding and memory functions. To provide continuous conversations and personalized companionship, we further process your conversation content and periodically generate daily conversation summaries, records of significant interactions, and user profiles. We also update the device’s MBTI personality parameters based on device interaction data. This information is used to optimize future conversations, generate AI diaries, and provide corresponding emotional descriptions. User profiles, personality records, and related data are retained for a maximum of two years to support memory restoration when you switch to a new device. Interaction logs generated while the device is offline will be uploaded to our cloud servers once network connectivity is restored to synchronize the data.

We retain relevant information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes of this feature. When the retention period expires, the processing purposes have been fulfilled, you actively delete the relevant data, or we discontinue the corresponding feature, we will delete or anonymize the relevant personal information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, unless otherwise required by law.
