switchlink firmware and colors

9 comments

Edited: Nov 3, 2017

Hi guys,

Got the switchlink few days ago, it works fine but I seem to have two problems that might be related.

1. After initial connection the switchlink showed on the "home" tab for configuration, which I did in order to connect it to the wifi. On its setup screen it said there is a new firmware, but it failed to upgrade (I tried 3 times).

After saving and resetting, it never shows on this screen again, only on the "switchlink list", but there I am not able to set it up (or upgrade firmware), only to switch colors.

2. When I am choosing a specific color it works as expected. But after a day or so it switches back to some rainbow swirling effect which is pretty annoying. I set the color again, its stays for about a day and so on...

Will appreciate you help with that.

+ I couldn't find any API document for the switchlink. how can we control it other than with the app?

Hi Alon,

Sorry for the delayed response. We took some time to reproduce and verify your issues.

1. Could you provide us on which firmware level for SwitchLink (the Hub), and your phone system version? It sounds to us that the upgrade was successful after all.

Set the button on the back of the Hub to "AUTO" state, the revert back to "ON", you will reinitiate the Hub as "discoverable" state for APP for around 10 minutes. Try this, and you should be able to see it again on APP home page.

Once the Hub is displayed on APP home screen, then you can set it up (WiFi or firmware upgrade).

2. For current implementing and per our test in the past days, there are 2 known scenarios will result in the same situation like you:

a) The WiFi connection to the Internet lost and came back again;

b) There was signal passing between the Hub and the Bot.

We plan to bring improvement in the coming releases.

3. We have not released the API for the SwitchLink (the Hub).

We plan to do it in the future.

Hope you have fun with our Bot and the Hub.

Thank you,

1. The current firmware ver is V2.9-0.8. I still have the "please upgrade" request. The phone is iPhone 6S plus, latest iOS.

2. Yes, you seem to be correct about the reasons for this. I think is also happens if you take the power out. Does this mean you don't store the color option on the device?

3. Looking forward for this. I hope this will include "direct" (intranet) api, not just cloud.

Best,

Alon

Hi Alon,

Regarding your issue 1, we have now located it as a sofware fault.

It has now been fixed, and to be released in our coming next iOS APP, with IFTTT and other new functionalities.

The planned date is Nov 13th, Monday. If we are lucky enough, it might be tomorrow.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback!

I've setup the light color of the cloud to be none / off. When my IFTTT runs an event the cloud turns back to the rainbow color. I upgraded to the most current firmware before I setup the IFTTT task.

Hi toddhutch, this is how it is expected to work at present. We plan to bring improvement in the coming releases.

Quoting from the reply to Alon earlier:

"For current implementing and per our test in the past days, there are 2 known scenarios will result in the same situation like you:

a) The WiFi connection to the Internet lost and came back again;

b) There was signal passing between the Hub and the Bot."

In your case, the reason was b).

Hi Alon, toddhutch and all other friends, please be noted that we have verified one workaround to make it stay the same color, even when having a command passing through the Hub.

1) Set your Hub to "OFF" state (in the middle).

2) Set the color you like in APP.

This overcome scenario b), which is most common situation.

a) The WiFi connection to the Internet lost and came back again;

b) There was signal passing between the Hub and the Bot.

We are planning the permanent fix in the release after the next.

Have fun and enjoy!

Cheers,

Lin

@support has this now been fixed in the latest release? It's a bit of a dealbreaker for me. Thanks.

I don't see an unpaired list. I have two unpaired bots.

Hi Duane,

The Unpaired List is in the Left menu bar,click the 'Device List' and it will show both 'PAIRED' and 'UNPAIRED' list.

    I have a number of different kinds of smart devices assigned to particular rooms in my google home, including switchbots. when I give a specific command for a switchbot, it works fine, but if I give a room level command, such as, turn on all the living room lights, all of the devices in the living room respond, except for the switchbot (even though they are most definitely assigned to that room in Google home). This occurs in every room where I have a switchbot, and all batteries are fine on the switchbots, so this is a program level issue. please tell me how to fix this, or if you are already aware that this is an issue that you are working on currently.

    Hi,there. I'm doubted that even this writings are written on your post :) On the feedback messanger, you guys asked me to upload my firmware info on my app and devices. And I sent you and waited for 4 days(2days if counting business days). Today, I got the message I didnt reply anything. Wow.... A week ago, I firstly post that your device doesn't recognize the basic timer and the things I've been replied are what is your firmware version? and ignoring messages...

    La télécommande freebox semble être une telecommande radio et non IR. Impossible de l’ajouter au hub ??
