Shortcut on Android

Would it be possible to have a function where i can create shortcut in android such that I can trigger the specific switchbot without going into the app? Or maybe tasker plugin so that i trigger it without opening the app?

This would be help for some automation so that i can trigger the switchbot without interaction

This function would be very useful. Maybe by a Widget for the smartphone-desktop.

Without this "switchbot-button" it is not very confortable to use the switchbot.

If you are with hub, you can integrate IFTTT Button widget and Switch Bot to do what you want.

I have the exact same request. I do own the hub but I wanted to install a bot in my car where the hub can't reach it of course.

For "some automation so that i can trigger the switchbot without interaction", as 洪邦瑋 said, the best way is to set up IFTTT and use their widget. IFTTT also support more automation.

We don't want to reinvent the wheel, so getting a Hub and use IFTTT likely to be a good option.

@Jahandy, wow, that is really a challenge for us...

It is a pity that SwitchBot does not work with the cellular network for now, and could not meet your requirements directly.

As a workaround, you might try to find a power bank (with a USB port), a standard USB to DV 5V cable (to power up the Hub), a Mi-Fi device (4G mobile hotspot), so you set up a Wi-Fi network inside your car.

I don't own a hub so IFTTT doesn't work for me. How about supporting intent on your app? It doesn't

reinvent the wheel just a new functionality. This would allow automation on my phone and also ability to create shortcut that trigger the switchbot without having to open the app.

Intent looks like a solution at first glance. However, it is an Android only solution. We need to provide seamless user experience regardless of iOS or Android.

Mobile phone acting as a Hub is not ideal from our perspective for reasons:

1) SwitchBot was mainly designed to use at home/office, but a mobile phone is not designed to always presented at one place.

2) Mobile phone is not qualified as a Hub for multiple factors including power management polices.

You could either:

1) Place a Hub order here on our website store.

2) Develop your own DIY solution based on open API. Devices with Bluetooth like Raspberry Pi will do.
