SwitchBot Curtain Grommet Kit
SwitchBot Curtain Grommet Kit
Easy to assemble!
Works as described. However had to use a bit of sandpaper on underside of wooden rod as driving wheel was slipping. After this all ok, linked to Alexa with no problem and can now open and close with voice command. Been operational for a couple of weeks and battery level is at 92%. Will be interesting to see how long it takes before requiring a recharge with normal use after some considerable playing with and demonstrating it.
I have a giant window that has two double hung windows on each side of a picture window.... 154”total... this accessory helped space out the grommets to ease the strain on the robots and was invisible basically...
I tried following the picture they have on the site, but it did not work. After 2-3 tries I found the right way to use it. It has been working fine for the past week.
The grommets get stuck and the Bot motor won’t open the curtain
While the SwitchBot device itself certainly performs as advertised, the Grommet kit, not so much. The device has trouble negotiating up and over the junction where the slightly larger outer curtain rod and the smaller inner curtain rod meet. If the curtain rod was just one long rod, rather than an extendable assembly, the Grommet kit would operate flawlessly. I may try to adapt increasing longer split plastic tubes, with the shortest going on the inner rod first to the longest going on last, in perhaps four layers of 3"/6"/9"/12", with all four tubes butted up against the larger outer rod. This will form a gentler slope that should help avoid the device from getting hung up trying to climb over the larger outer rod.
