This is a well made and useful internal CCTV camera, useful as a baby or pet monitor or just for general monitoring of rooms. The item has minimal packaging, which is always good from an environmental perspective. It comes with a plug and USB-A to micro cable. Upgrading it to a USB-C connector on the camera would be good, but a positive is that the cable is about 50cm long, so there's no need to place the camera too close to a socket or have unsightly extension cables. The camera comes with a ceiling mount, screws and fittings. It's lightweight so you don't worry that the camera might be too heavy. The camera is very easy to set up. It comes with a set of very clear instructions. It's important to follow them in order, particularly remembering to remove the protective film over the camera lens. You have to install the SwitchBot app, and if you want to have recorded footage you need to install a memory card, supplied separately. I haven't installed a memory card to give full recording capabilities, but it does still record snapshots of movement in the app for review or deletion. The camera is easily installed on the app, simply connect the camera to your existing home wireless network for viewing on your phone. It has many features such as night mode (with infra-red LEDs), privacy mode that allows you to quickly shut the camera off (the lens physically drops down, not just the software in the app turning it off). It also has modes to detect movement (and start recording) and also to track movement. The app has selectable features for the level of detection, such as only picking up on people or low/medium/high thresholds for movement. For remote viewing, the app warns you that you are using cellular data, so you know you're not on WiFi and may be subject to high data usage. The bandwidth rate is shown in the top corner, with SD/HD options as required. Live viewing on a data connection has slight lag, especially when turning the camera around, but being able to view and rotate a camera from 200miles away in mere seconds isn't that bad. The ability to hear through your phone and speak back is also invaluable.Overall, a high quality camera, good image quality and an app that's got the majority of the main desirables covered. It could be improved by having integral storage (a basic amount, with users able to add a memory card if they want extra), but that isn't a deal breaker.
